The Role:
- Exhibits strong technical underwriting skills through strategic, thorough account reviews and file documentation
- Grows and maintains profitable book of business through execution of individual risk underwriting and adherence to the strategic plan of the unit
- Stays current on competition, underwriting environment, and market conditions and share that knowledge with colleagues and leadership
- Develops and executes marketing plan aimed at retaining existing business and producing new opportunities
- Travels to and completes marketing/sales meetings in assigned territories within the southeast region
- Exhibits good understanding of pricing components and rating methodology; prices risk based on financial and competitive analysis
- Prepares or analyzes information on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations in order to drive results within the assigned territory
- Monitors production, profitability and maintains agency relationships
- Effectively communicates (written/verbal) information to both internal and external customers to ensure our standards of excellence are maintained
- Ensures underwriting and service standards are met on assigned accounts
- Reviews profitability of each account on a quarterly basis in a strong, auditable condition
The Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-7 years of experience
- Proven underwriting track record
- Strong retail broker relationships
- Knowledgeable of the financial institutions, real estate, hospitality, construction, professional services, leisure, retail and distribution industries
- Experience underwriting Property, General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Automobile, and Excess Casualty
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflows efficiently
- Professional demeanor in language, writing, and presentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office
