People Moves: Cotton Named COO at Mangrove, Thomas VP at Summit

The recently formed, Florida-based Mangrove Property Å˽ðÁ«´«Ã½Ó³»­ Co. has named former Olympus Å˽ðÁ«´«Ã½Ó³»­ COO as chief operating officer and elevated four others to management roles at the startup.

Tim Cotton, who spent almost four years at Olympus as COO and as claims officer, has some 28 years in the Florida property insurance market, Mangrove said in a news release.

The carrier named four other people to key jobs:

Chris August was named head of distribution:He has some 23 years of insurance industry experience.

Allan Franklin, CPA, CFE, is chief financial officer and treasurer: He has more than 15 years of accounting experience in the public and private sectors, with a focus on the P&C insurance.

Eduardo Miranda, senior vice president for risk, underwriting and analytics: Miranda has considerable experience underwriting, CAT modeling, risk and exposure management, reinsurance placement, data analytics and loss control. Eduardo comes to Mangrove from Universal North America Å˽ðÁ«´«Ã½Ó³»­ Co.

Brian Turnau, claims director: He has worked for two decades in claims operations for multiple carriers.

Summit, a regional provider of workers’ compensation insurance based in Lakeland, Florida, announced that Greg Thomas is the new vice president of the firm’s mid-Atlantic region.

Thomas began his insurance career as a claims adjuster and later worked in loss prevention. He joined Summit in 2013 and was assistant vice president for sales in the Southeast region.

Summit is part of Great American Å˽ðÁ«´«Ã½Ó³»­ Group.
