Everest Re Taps Haines From Carpenter as Global Head of Engineering

Everest Reinsurance, the reinsurance division of Bermuda-based Everest Group Ltd., announced that Alex Haines has been appointed as global head of Engineering.

He reports to Emily Davis, head of the division’s Global Specialties business, which includes aviation, marine, cyber, engineering and parametric solutions.

With more than two decades of construction and engineering experience in both underwriting and broking, Haines comes to Everest from Guy Carpenter, where he served as managing director and head of Construction and Engineering. Prior to that, Haines held various leadership positions with global organizations including Willis Towers Watson and MAPFRE.

MGA Aqueous Promotes Dorrell to New Role as Head of P/C

Aqueous Underwriting, the London-based managing general agent, has promoted Dan Dorrell to the new role of head of Property & Casualty as part of a move by the MGA to focus on new product development and innovation in response to rapidly changing market needs.

Dorrell, who was previously Trading & Distribution Manager at Aqueous, will lead a team focused on the creation of new, tailored P&C insurance products alongside the implementation of robust pricing strategies to ensure the MGA continues to meet evolving customer expectations and deliver strong financial performance.

With a deep understanding of market dynamics, Dorrell will also be responsible for attracting and nurturing new talent, delivering operational excellence, and maintaining the MGA’s reputation for providing a superior service to its brokers.

“The MGA currently boasts a customer base in excess of 30,000 policyholders and is now strategically positioned for significant growth. With an ambitious plan to expand its reach, the forthcoming product pipeline will be a critical driver for growth, and Dan will be a key part of this future expansion,” commented Danny French, CEO of Aqueous Underwriting.
