As the

Senior Builders Risk Broker

for the Construction Practice, you will lead the day-to-day placement and broking functions including new business development. Forge key business relationships with producers, client advocates, and markets. Offer expertise on challenging placements, conduct contract reviews, and negotiate with underwriters on coverage terms, conditions, and pricing. Evaluate quotes, prepare insightful marketing reports, and manage pro-forma analysis information. Play a pivotal role in team efforts, assisting with RFP and new business proposal development.

The Role




  • Manage brokerage responsibilities for a portfolio of new and recurring builders risk exposures.

  • Provide knowledgeable leadership, insight, and direction for broking activities, ensuring consistent fulfillment of clients' expectations.

  • Orchestrate the placement of new business, renewals, and alterations for existing coverage.

  • Develop, review, and deliver presentations to establish new relationships and strengthen existing ones.

  • Design and produce analytics/modeling materials for clients and offices, assessing and evaluating client risks to facilitate effective placement in the market.

  • Conduct thorough research and evaluation of all solutions, identifying and developing optimal risk strategies for clients.

  • Offer advice and expertise on coverage and program design to clients, conducting needs and gap analyses to recommend program improvements.

  • Negotiate terms for accounts and provide specialized expertise for challenging-to-place business in builders risk.

  • Cultivate strong partnerships with stakeholders in the market to secure favorable terms and conditions for clients.

  • Collaborate closely with associates to stay informed about marketplace changes.

  • Oversee the design and preparation of draft proposals; negotiate and finalize carrier quotes, terms, conditions, and coverage confirmations to ensure contract certainty.

  • Prepare submission/coverage specifications and submit proposals to carriers for quotes.

  • Receive quotes from carriers, negotiate for the best program for clients, and provide coverage comparisons.

  • Bind carrier quotes, review binders, and ensure accurate coverage confirmations.

  • Request, attend, and actively participate in regular client and underwriter meetings.

  • Conduct program peer reviews to enhance overall quality and effectiveness.

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior brokers.

  • Maintain and develop strong business relationships with Client Advocates, Producers, and Senior Underwriting contacts.



The Requirements



  • Eight to ten years of client-facing experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on Property and Casualty; a valid Property and Casualty license is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in insurance, including the ability to apply knowledge of coverage forms for program design, identify coverage gaps, and provide ongoing coverage consultation.
  • Proven excellence in interpreting, analyzing, and presenting models in a logical and systematic manner.
  • A track record of leveraging internal and external relationships to bring WTW resources and assets tailored to client needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions for complex deals, with the skill to drive consensus across internal and external stakeholders to successfully close deals.
  • Strong presentation skills, both written and oral, with the ability to engage in complex and technical conversations at the executive level.
  • Capability to oversee end-to-end management of large, complex, ambiguous, or multi-dimensional projects.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, macros, etc.; experience in spreadsheet creation and manipulation is a plus.
  • Proven ability to handle difficult client situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Openness to feedback, with critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and a high level of adaptability.
  • Minimal travel required.

Compensation and Benefits



Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation



The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $100,000 USD - $145,000 USD. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
